5 of the Most Promising Vertical Markets for Telecoms in 2023

We have discussed several times already how vital the role of Telecommunications is for several sectors, and there is absolutely no doubt about it. But while that conclusion usually stems from product types and technology developments, it is interesting to look at things from the vertical perspective of not just product type but also target customers, both B2C and B2B. So, as we are at the dawn of a new year, we examined the data from the previous one to see some of the vertical markets where most of the opportunities for Telecoms providers lie from here onwards.

1. Media – Entertainment

Are you surprised? You shouldn’t be! After the rapid success of pay-TV services offered by some Telecoms providers and, of course, platforms such as Netflix or Disney+ in recent years, the ventures of Telecoms companies in the entertainment sector are simply a natural progression.

2. Fintech

In other words, financial and technical services. Online payments are very much the payments of the future. That’s why, especially in areas with solid financial networks, the opportunity for Telecoms providers to offer B2B-specific integrated payment solutions based on cloud-like platforms is considerable, to say the least.

3. Healthcare

It is very clear that the healthcare sector needs to undergo a major digital makeover in order to better perform and more effectively respond to people’s needs. Bureaucracy, however, and a few other issues are holding this process back. So, there is an opportunity here – which a number of Telecoms providers have already seized – for dedicated service networks, and as we move into the future, why not dedicated networks for things like remote surgery and so on?

4. Education

Teachers everywhere will often tell you how Telecommunications saved them during the pandemic, as well as tales of long calls and hours of online lessons. Essentially, one could say that a new reality has been created when it comes to education. Consequently, new network services from Telecoms providers, targeted exclusively at schools, tutorial centers and universities, would be extremely useful, if not necessary, in the future.

5. Transportation

No one can deny that transportation, particularly public transport, has to enter into its technological era and would thus benefit greatly from Telecommunications technologies. This applies to both infrastructure and individual transport vehicles. And while significant progress has yet to be made so far, certain airports and ports are cautiously building their own mobile networks in partnership with Telecoms providers. Perhaps the near future holds even more remarkable developments in this respect.

These are just a few of the sectors that show promising possibilities for Telecoms providers, which only reinforces the point that Telecommunications are basically essential for everyone. The ever-increasing opportunities presented further prove this, and it will be interesting to see how they develop throughout this new year and in the years to come. One thing is for sure; Telecoms aren’t going anywhere.
